A Criterion for Comparison between Shear Behavior of Loose Non-Cemented and Cement Carbonate Sediments abstract
In recent years rapid developments in the ground of geotechnical engineering on continental shelves of Persian Gulf have been occurred. Offshore structures in such areas are founded in calcareous sediments which still need more investigations. As most of these sediments are being cemented and knowing that it is difficult to obtain undisturbed samples, artificially cements samples were preferred to be made in laboratory. In order to study the engineering properties of carbonate sediments from Kish island in Persian Gulf, a series of unconfined compression and drained monotonic triaxial tests have been managed to be carry out. Therefore a criterion must be established for best comparison between the shear behavior of loose non-cements and cemented samples . This paper discuss about a new method using coefficient of permeability as a basis for comparison.
