Damage Mechanism Potential of Mercury Corrosion in Gas Processing Plant abstract
Traces of mercury in natural gas could cause corrosion to the plant equipments, The objective of this preliminary study is to develop a Damage Mechanism Potential based on Risk Based Inspection (RBI) approach in analyzing mercury corrosion at gas processing plant (GPP). The RBI methodology is based on the API RP 580 and API 581 which comprises three main tasks; analyzing the probability of failure (poF), determining the consequence of failure (CoF), and evaluating the criticality rating. Mercury data is obtained from open literatnre and OPP's experiences. Based on the stndy, a Damage Mechanism Potential of mercury corrosion is proposed that reveals the susceptibility of carbon steel equipments.
