Corrosion Inhibition of Ni-P Coatings in Sulforic Acid and NaCI by Rare Earth Elements abstract
The effect of rare earth elements addition on the corrosion behavior ofNi-P deposits was evaluated by the polarization and impedance spectroscopy. It was used NaCI 3.5% and sulpboric acid 1M as corrosion media. This work has demonstrated that RE can decrease the corrosion rate and have an inhibition effect on the corrosion process. This
has been attributed to modifications in sur:filce film with RE elements. Scanning electron microscopy show that the rare earth elements can decrease grain size and refine microstructure.
