Agricultural waste biomass templated synthesis of nanomaterials: Green approach for the waste minimization abstract

Nanoporous alumina and magnesia and ceria nanoparticles have been produced from metal nitrate and walnut shell as a worthless agricultural waste by a thermal decomposition method followed by open air calcination. These materials further werecharacterized using powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), and N2 adsorption/desorption porosimetry, scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The surface area of alumina and magnesia and particle sizes ofceria nanoparticles can be tuned by changing cerium source /biomass ratio
