Abstract:
A composite based on copper hexacyanoferrate was synthesized and used for removal of Cesium from solution. Polyacrylonitril was used in this composite to overcome the problem of physical instability and the composite had a magnetic core to easy separation from solution. It was synthesized through chemical co-precipitation. The product were characterized using FT IR, XRD, and SEM techniques. The results of FTIR, XRD confirmed the composite formation. The SEM images showed that the particles are 20-60 nm in diameter. The composite showed high mechanical, chemical and thermal stability. The synthesized nano composite was applied for removal of cesium ions from waste solutions. Some parameters were studied for their effect on sorption process. The parameters were time, concentration and pH. After the metal ion adsorption process the magnetic separation of adsorbent from absorbents was carried out through external magnetic field. Maximum sorption capacity was about 205 mg/g. The adsorption isotherm was best modeled by Langmuir isotherm.
