Dynamic Economic Generation Dispatch of Thermal Units Incorporating Aggregated Plug-in Electric Vehicles abstract
Nowadays, plug in pure and hybrid electric vehicles are growing in popularity due to the major concerns about the excessive emissions and global energy crisis. Therefore, this paper proposes a novel economic generation dispatch model for integrated thermal units and plug-in electric vehicles (PEVs) considering the prohibited operating zones, the transmission line losses, and other operating constraints of the generating units. A mixed integer programming (MIP) problem is solved to minimize the operating cost of generators participating for supplying the demand over a 24-hour time interval and make the charging and discharging decisions of PEVs by using BARON solver under general algebraic modeling system (GAMS) environment. Numerical results substantiate that optimal charging and discharging of PEVs reduces total generation cost, significantly.
