Synthesis of 3-benzyl-2,3-dihydro-2-(1H-indol-1-yl)benzo[d]thiazol derivatives from reaction between 2-methylbenzothiazol with benzyl bromide in the presence of indole

A series of 3-benzyl-2,3-dihydro-2-(1H-indol-1-yl)benzo[d]thiazol derivatives 4a-c were synthesized from reaction of 2-methylbenzothiazole with benzyl bromide in the presence of indole. The reactions proceeded in the presence of Et3N as a base, acetonitrile as a solvent under reflux for 8h in good yields. The structure of the synthesized compounds have been characterized by the elemental analyses and spectral studies
