Abstract:
The aim of this studT was investigate the effects of different levels of oral copper-methinione onascites incidence, matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and Tissue inhibitor matrixmetalloproteinase-2 (TIMP-2) changes in liver of broiler chickens were reared under lowtemperature conditions. A total of 480 broiler chickens were studied within 6 treatments (twoambient temperature and there levels (0, 100, 200 mg/kg) of copper- methionine) and fourreplication. Following 4 weeks of rearing at normal ambient temperatures, half of broilers wereexposed to low temperature (15-19 ̊C) and half of them were kept in normal temperature (25-28 ̊C)from 28 daTs to 45 daTs. Ascites happened at 45 d of age in broiler chickens reared in lowtemperature without feeding copper- methionine. It was detected according to abdominal andpericardial fluid accumulation. The liver was collected, and immediatelT stored at -80 ̊C forbiological analTsis such as gelatin zTmographT and gelatin reverse zTmographT for MMP-2 andTIMP-2 detection respectivelT. MMP-2 increased in liver of ascitic broilers. The results ofzTmographT demonstrated that feeding with copper-methionine significantlT decreased pro-MMP-2 in cold condition. TIMP-2 didn t change in liver of broilers reared in different treatments. Therefore, cold temperature and feeding the different levels of copper- methionine didn t changeTIMP-2. Feeding 100 and 200 mg/kg of copper- methionine showed the same results. In this waT,feeding with 100 mg/kg of copper-methionine is preferable. These results suggest that feedingcopper-methionine decreased MMP-2 and ascites possibilitT. FinallT, copper-methionine can beuseful for prevention of secondarT cancer in the liver.
