Abstract:
Recently, green synthesis of nanomaterial using photocatalytic materials have attracted great attention.These plant origin materials could be used both as reducing and capping agent. Here we synthesizedzinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO nanoparticles) through green chemistry using Amaranthus cruentus seed extract. The MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide) cell viability assay was performed on MCF7breast adenocarcinoma cell line. Cell was seeded on 96-well plate and incubated for 24 hours. Then, cells were treated with different concentrations of ZnO nanoparticles (1.6-12.5μg/ml). After 24, 48, 72 hours post treatment and incubation with MTT optical absorptions were read at 570 nm. Cells incubated with medium alone were used as negative control. Results showed thatkilling efficacy of ZnO nanoparticles. The IC50 values were about 4 μg/ml 24 and 48h after treatment. The findings of this study indicated that ZnO nanoparticles synthesizing in Amaranthus cruentusextract have the ability to kill cancer cells, however, more studies are recommended in order to use in clinic.
