Producing mixed 30% 2 UO -70% 2 ThO Spherical nanoparticles using supercritical ethanol abstract

One kind of nuclear fuel used in nuclear reactors is uranium-thorium dioxide mixed fuel. The type of method used in the production of this fuel has a key role in its efficiency and Optimum Performance in a reactor. In this study, supercritical hydrothermal method was employed, using ethanol as fluid. The main objective of this research is to produce a mixed 30% - 70% nano particles with relatively small particle size, which is a turning point in character of produced mixed nanoparticles. Considering the results of X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Thermal Gravimetry Analysis (TGA-DSC) , Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) and scanning electron microscope (SEM) analysis, Nano particles produced in experiment 7, was determined as the superior sample. Weight percentage of 30.38% - 69.62% , 39.61 nm crystal size and 100% purity are the reasons for the superiority of these Nano particles and the way they were produced using supercritical fluid.
