Electrochemical Characterization of Vertical Silicon Nanowires Array for Lithium Ion Battery

The Silicon Nanowires Array was utilized in lithium ion battery to avoid of tensile in the first cycle. The metal assisted chemical etching (MACE) was employed to synthesis of SiNWs array with diameter of 60 nm and length of 8.5 µm by using of Ag as a catalyst. Electrochemical study of SiNWs array as an anode material shows a high stability for the first cycle and good cyclic stability rather than silicon bulk at current density of 20 µA/cm2. The result shows 0.020 mAh capacity after 7200 second at charging current of 10 µA.
