Formulation optimization on particle size of Eucalyptus oil-in-water nanoemulsion prepared by low-energy methods abstract

Oil-in-Water (O/W) nanoemulsions can be defined as emulsions with mean droplet diameters ranging from 50 to 100 nm that are made from oil, water, surfactant(s) and co-surfactant(s). Today, use of plant based oils (such as Eucalyptus oil) as oil phase of nanoemulsions is becoming popular. Size of nanoemulsion droplets affects its properties. In this study, we investigated the effect of nanoemulsion components on particle size using constrained mixture design. From obtained results, high amount of water and Tween 80 was observed to increase the NP size, while high amount of ethanol reduced the NP size. Droplet sizes were in the range of 30 nm to 2990 nm
