Abstract:
Several definitions with various terms have been suggested for ownership composition and different terms such as shareholders and ownership structure have been used for this concept. Ownership composition refers to the distribution of stock and ownership rights in terms of voting rights and capital as well as the nature and availability of the owners of stocks. The ownership structure of a company is significant from various aspects and in first place, it is defined in terms of two variables: internal (domestic) stakeholders and external shareholders. Accordingly, the shares available to institutional investors and the state are among the main components of external ownership of companies. The stock owned by domestic shareholders refers to the stock owned by company s managers and employees. Stock owned by institutional shareholders refers to the percentage of shares owned by institutional and legal investors. Ownership composition of a company can also be considered from other dimensions such as centralization or decentralization of ownership, being institutional or natural, shareholders being managerial or non-managerial
