Abstract:

Background and aim: Many people are unaware that men can develop breastcancer because they do not think of men as having breasts. In fact, both menand women have breast tissue. Currently there are around 55,000 new cases ofbreast cancer diagnosed in the UK each year, of which about 400 are men.Material& methods:This study was conducted by library source and paperindexed in medline to describe breast cancer in men.Findings: There is no known single cause of breast cancer in men.gettingsHowever, there are some factors that might increase the risk: exposuretosolder – men who get breast cancer are usually over 60 . radiation – previousradiotherapy treatment can slightly increase risk -significantsobesity - moresignificant in men over the age of 35 s family history – close relatives with ahistory of breast cancer at a higher than normal oestrogen levels – as a result oflongsyoung age . Kleinfelter s syndrome – a verysterm liver damage and otherconditions. rare hereditary condition that can increase the risk of breast cancerin men.The earlier breast cancer is treated the better, so it is important to get anysymptoms checked out as soon as possible. The most common symptom formen with breast cancer is a lump in the breast area. Oozing fromsThis is nearlyalways painless. Other symptoms can include: Swelling of thesthe nipple (adischarge) that may be blood stained. A nipple that issA sore (ulcer) in the skinof the breast.sbreast . Lumps under the armspulled into the breast (callednipple retraction).Results: Experts maintain that treatment of male breast cancer would includechemotherapy, radiotherapy as well as surgery where necessary. However, thegoal of chemotherapy and radiotherapy is to reduce the multiplicity of cancercells and enhance longevity. Also, successful removal tumour may lead to totalcure.
