Abstract:

Background:Breast cancer is the most common cancer and 2th cause of death due to cancer in women. Aim of this study was epidemiologic survey of breast cancer in terms of demographic indicator, Tumor morphology, geographical distribution of disease in kerman province during five years of this study.Design and Setting (Methods):The study was descriptive-analytic and cross- sectional. The datas gathered from cancer registry unit of Health Deputy of Kerman University of Medical Sciences and were analyzed in SPSS 17.0 and GIS 9.2.RESULT 968 patients were studied over five years (2008-2012). They were 27 men (2.8%) and 941 women (97.2%). Patients age range was 15-88 with an average age of 47.46(±12.76) years. The most frequent disease in the age group was observed 35-59 (64.22%) and 11% of patients were died. Age standardized incidence rate was 46.54 per 100000 during the five- years period.The most common morphology was related to ductal & lobular carcinoma (69.4%).Incidence rates were calculated in the ASR for each city and were provided its geographical distribution map with GIS programs for each year separately.Geographical distribution according to incidence rate ranked in to frequency and ASR: Kerman (501,95.2), Sirjan (92,42.11), Rafsanjan (72,33.34).Conclusion:Patients were in the active age-group of population. It is necessary for warning signs of education, risk factors and providing of screening programs in women over 34 years.Moreover, More research on the causes of disease will developed cancer prevention strategies in the future.
