Functional Latexes Based on Glycidyl Methacrylate: Synthesis, Characterization and Physical Properties of Uncured and Cured Films abstract
Functional latexes based on poly(butyl acrylate-methyl methacrylate-glycidyl methacrylate) were prepared with different GMA contribution via semi-batch emulsion polymerization at 75 °C, using potassium persulfate (KPS) as an initiator, sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate (SDBA) as emulsifier and sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) as buffer. Latexes were characterized by laser light scattering (LLS), apparent viscosity and 1HNMR. Latexes were cured, fully and partially, before film formations using butylene diamine as curing agent. The effects of GMA presence on the physical properties (i.e., Tg, gel content and surface hydrophobicity) of uncured and cured films were studied
