Effects of Thermal Procedure on Phase Development in Nano-TiO2 Synthesis Process abstract
Nano-TiO2 has many applications in science and technology, especially as a photocatalyst.In this research, nano-TiO2 synthesized by sol-gel method and applied for environmental proposes to degrade organic colorants and mineralize colored wastewater. TiO2 has two main phases, anatase and routile. The routile phase is normally used as inorganic pigment to produce paints and ceramics, but its anatase form is able to oxidize organic compound in a photo-catalytical process. The synthesis process is very sensitive to thermal procedure and any change would cause different final product structure. The experiments have shown that a fast increasing to temperature range of 450 to 550 °C and continued to calcinate in this range of temperature is the best procedure to product anatase nano-TiO2 for catalytical proposes.
