One Step Rapid Synthesis of Nano-Crystaline ZnO by Solution Combustion Method abstract

In this study nano-crystaline ZnO particles were synthesized by microwave-assisted solution combustion method. For this purpose, zinc nitrate and urea were used as oxidation agent and fuel respectively. In order to study the effect of fuel oxidizer ratio on powder properties different urea/nitrate ratios; 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1 were used. X-ray Diffractometer, Scanning Electron Microscopy and Fourier transform infra red were used for powders characterization. The results have shown that ZnO phase was formed after combustion reaction for f/o 0.5, 0.75 and 1. Calcinations step have increased the crystalinity level of the samples. The crystallite size was calculated by Sherer formula and was in the range of 28-32 nm. The micrograph by SEM has shown that for f/o 0.75 and 1 particles were agglomerated and partially sintered.
