Preparation and Characterization of Nanoencapsulated Nanosilica Particles with Acrylic Coplymer abstract

In this paper, a new preparation method of nanocomposite by nanoencapsulation of silica nanoparticles with copolymer using emulsion polymerization of acrylate monomers was presented. The key technique of this work which is the usage of nonionic surfactant above its cloud point to nanoencapsulate silica surface. Nanocomposite sample characterized by FTIR, DLS, GPC, and morphology of nanocomposite particles determined by TEM. Decrease in adsorption band at 3448 cm-1 shows that a few silica sol particles are unmodified, and almost all of silica particles act as a nanocomposite core. Average particle size of nanocomposite sample is defected by DLS analysis,58.9 nm, and particles size distribution have very narrow, and particles size are below 100 nm, so this sample is a nanostructure nanocomposite. This nanocomposite has a narrow molecular weight distribution that show the uniformity of particles. TEM image of nanocomposite sample show the core-shell morphology of this sample clearly, in which organic shell can be seen around the silica core.
