Abstract:
This paper deals with the first Iranian geothermal deep well, NWS-1, in the Sabalan volcanic mountains of northern Iran. The field was found actually in 1998 in a large area over 50 km2 with a relatively low resistivity of p<5 ohm-m in northwest flanks of Mt. Sabalan for electricity power generation purposes following a series of geophysical exploration methods basically including MT, TEM and DC resistivity surveys. The well was drilled vertically to a depth of 3200 m as an exploration well during 2002-2003. A Temperature-pressure-spinner (TPS) logging was carried out in static state before discharge flow test and a maximum temperature of 247 C recorded within the hole almost 7 months after completion test. Consequently, the discharge flow test was performed and a TPS logging was run at the same time. It was calculated a capacity of 2.5 MWe from TPS logging data for the well. The TPS logging process detailed and the results presented through graphs in spread-sheet.
