Effect of Lubricant Presser Viscosity Coefficient onHydrodynamic Characteristic of Journal Bearing Running UnderDifferent Conditions abstract

In this study, the effect of lubricant pressure viscosity coefficient on hydrodynamic characteristics of journal bearing under different steady conditions is examined. To reach this goal, a computational procedure is introduced for the numerical solution of three-dimensional laminar incompressible viscous flow in which lubricant viscosity is considered to be as a function of pressure. The analysis is based on the numerical solution of the full Navier-Stokes equations using CFD techniques. Considering the complexity of the physical geometry, conformal mapping is used to generate an orthogonal grid and the governing equations are transformed in the computational domain. Discretized forms of the transformed equations are obtained by control volume method and solved by the SIMPLE Algorithm. Numerical results show that effect of pressure viscosity coefficient increases at small value of Re, small clearance and high eccentricity.
