Comparison of Visual Performance of four types of Multifocal Intraocular Lenses abstract
Purpose: To compare the clinical outcome of different multifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs) in patients with presbyopia or cataracts. Methods: 118 patients (236 eyes) with different multifocal intraocular lens IOLs included, Symfony (60 eyes), AcrySof ReSTOR (100 eyes), AT Lisa tri (60 eyes), PanOptix (16 eyes). The near, intermediate and distant visual acuities, contrast sensitivity, were measured as effective criteria. Results: The demonstrated clinical results here were excellent for four groups, however, there were also differences in group ReSTOR, uncorrected distance visual acuity and best-corrected distance visual acuity for the intermediate at 60 cm and near at 40cm of the other groups showed less vision (P<0.001) also symphony group for far distance demonstrated less vision than other groups (P<0.001). There were no statistically significant differences by at lisa tri and PanOptix lens for visual acuity in all distance and eyes with the PanOptix and at lisa tri IOL showed better contrast sensitivity than ReSTOR and Symfony at spatial frequencies of 1 cpd and 3, 6 cpd (P<0.001) in photopic and mesopic conditions and no significant difference in other spatial frequencies. Conclusion: Four groups multifocal lenses provided excellent distance, intermediate and near vision, but various measures demonstrated that the PanOptix and at lisa tri lens provided better vision in all distance. Spectacle freedom was significantly higher with four groups. MF IOL design perhaps plays a role in the post-operation result because better outcomes were received with diffractive lenses.
