Synthesis of spiro pyrrolo derivatives from reaction between Quinoline, Isoquinoline or Phenanthridine and dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate in the presence of diethyl-2-thiobarbituric acid abstract

The three component condensation reactions involving quinoline, isoquinoline or phenanthridine with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate in the presence of diethyl-2-thiobarbitoric acid led to a novel and one-pot synthesis of spiro pyrrolo derivatives in good yields. These novel series of compounds were synthesised under mild condition without using any catalyst and characterized by IR, 1HNMR, 13CNMR, elemental and mass spectral analyses.
