New Schiff Base-Modified Silicas: Synthesis, Characterization and Its Use in the Cu(II)-Removal from Water abstract

Functionalized modified silica has been applied for copper removal from water and soil. 1-(salisiliden)- tiosemicarbazid (STSC) has been prepared by condensation reaction of tiosemicarbazid and salesilaldehyde in 1:1 ratio and has been used for fictionalization of modified silica. The effect of diffrent parameters has been such as pH, concentration and time in copper absorption was investigated. The results has been confirmed by FT-IR spectroscopy and carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance (13C-NM). The result of this investigation has been released that both the Schiff base and the modified silica-gel are good absorbents for removeal of copper from water.
