Application of magnetite-Y zeolite composite for Ru removal abstract
In this research, a new composite adsorbent consisting of zeolite Y and Iron Oxide nanoparticles was synthesized. The composite was characterized by XRD, VSM, and XRF analysis. The adsorption behavior of the composite toward Ru was investigated. According to the VSM results, composite exhibits a saturation magnetization of about 19.50 emu g-1 at 298 K confirming that it has sufficiently magnetic properties to be attracted by a magnetic field. The kinetic of the process followed pseudo-second-order model. Positive ΔH ̊ and negative ΔG ̊ were indicative of the endothermic and spontaneous nature adsorption. Obtained results revealed the magnetic-Y zeolite composite was a desirable ion exchanger for Ru removal.
