Synthesis and modification of P3HT in polymer solar cell abstract

Poly-3-hexylthiophene (P3HT) as a semiconductor polymer with high hole mobility, has increasing use in photovoltaic devices such as solar cells. In order to dissociation of excitons in active layer of solar cells, it requires the presence of an electron acceptor beside an electron donor. In this work, P3HT by GRIM metathesis is synthesized. The structural properties of various P3HT with terminated electron-withdrawing and electron donating groups (Br, Cl, Allyl, Phenyl, OH) exhibited planar and non-planar structures. Synthesis materials will be characterized by FTIR , UV, CV and HNMR spectroscopy. It was found that OH terminated P3HT is a good candidate for organic solar cells.
