Homopolymerization of 1,7-octadiene and copolymerizations of 1-hexene and 1,7-octadiene were carried out by the metallocene catalyst system rac-Et(Ind)2ZrCl2/MMAO. The catalyst activity has slightly increased with the addition of low amounts of the diene in relation to the copolymerization of 1-hexene and 1,7-octadiene. On the basis of the FTIR spectra, the polymer was assigned a hydrocarbon chain structure. Microstructures of the homopolymer and copolymers were determined by 1H NMR and also diene contents in the copolymer were obtained through 1H NMR.
