Abstract:
Introduction & Aim: In spite of the high rate of breast cancer in Iran, the rate of women participating in the mammography screening is low. The aim of this study was to explore mammography barriers related to Health Care System among Iranian women.Methods: This qualitative study was performed in three Iranian cities (Tabriz, Hamadan, and Sanandaj), in 2016. Qualitative methods, specifically in depth interviews, were used to gather data on 24 of women 40 years of age and older and analyzed by conventional content analysis.Results: The reported factors were categorized into six groups: To be long the process of mammography and lack of mammography centers and facilities, Defective communication skills of health personnel, Transmission of health professionals’ attitude and hesitating people referred, Lack of expertise, skill and diagnostic errors, Nonconformity of privacy for referred, Lack of health insurance and cost of mammography, Poor training and lack of a health care provider recommendation.Conclusion: In order to well-design a comprehensive BC screening program, multidisciplinary health experts need a comprehensive understanding on the factors associated with mammography adoption.
