Abstract:
Surfactants are a class of organic compounds that can reduce the surface tension of water by configuration insolution surface. The performance of synergism (synergistic) can be far more than their pure state. Recently, ionic liquidswith surface-active properties due to the specific characteristics (such as green solvent) have been considered. In thisresearch, the interfacial and micellization behaviors of binary mixtures of an ionic liquid (1-hexyl 3-methylimidazoliumchloride or C6mimCl) and cationic surfactant (CTAB) were studied at various mole fractions. The surface tension andconductivity techniques were used to determinevalues of surfactants in pure and mixed states. The Experimental resultswere analyzed according to the regular solution model developed by Client, Rubingh, Rosen and others. Interactionparameters (βS, βm), mole fraction (XS, Xm), activity coefficient (fS, fm) were calculated and analyzed at the interface andmicellar phases. The thermodynamic parameters such as maximum surface excess (Tmax), surface pressure (II), excess freeGibbs energy of micellization (ΔG m ax), minimum area per molecule (Amin) calculated and investigated.
