Evaluation of physical stability of housing, case Study of Tabriz Region 8 (Iran) abstract

Urban population growth and the rapid development of cities have caused various challenges in the physical, social, economic and environmental fields of cities. Assessing and recognizing the status quo in each of the areas mentioned above should be the basis for decision making for city planning and management and progress towards sustainable development. The purpose of this paper is to provide analytical analysis of the physical aspects in the design of sustainable cities and given that housing as the dominant user of the city is one of the main pillars of sustainable development, the emphasis of this research is on the physical dimension of housing. In this regard, after reviewing the basics of this field and extracting the physical indicators of housing, for more precise examination, the city of Tabriz was studied as a case study. Various studies have shown that Tabriz faces difficulties in terms of physical condition, especially in the housing sector. In this article, the physical aspect of housing in the area of Tabriz 8 from the perspective of sustainable development has been analyzed using the AHP model in GIS. The method of this research is descriptive-analytical and its approach is quantitative and qualitative. The results of the research show that the 8th area of Tabriz is faced with problems such as low constructional quality, use of low materials and a large number of residential units of 1 or 2 floors.
