Energy Consumption and Optimization in Textile Industry: A Case Study for Iran abstract

The Iranian textile industry is one of the oldest industrial sectors in the country. For future planning, it is important to know the current energy index (energy consumption/production) and the energy intensity (cost of energy/energy consumption) in order to estimate future energy consumption for the textile sector. This paper, at the beginning, addresses industrial sub-sector energy consumption in Iran. Then, it highlights the energy saving potential and suggests some energy saving measures suitable for the Iranian textile industry. Finally it presents the experiences of the authors with some textile industry that indicate the energy consumption, energy cost and the relationship between the energy usage and textile production.
