Predictive Factors for Research Productivity: Faculty, Research, and Grant abstract

Research grants for academic science have increased continuously; therefore, it is necessary toexamine various factors that affect research productivity. We use a comprehensive data setcomprised of recipient, research attribute, and research grant to scrutinize factors that influenceresearch performance. We find that the magnitude and impact of factors varies depending on howresearch productivity is measured. However, several elements associated with recipients’ past andcurrent affiliations, the number of authors, international research collaborations, periodssupported, technology cycles, and particular regional locations positively and significantlyincrease the probability of publication in prominent journals.
