Abstract:

Introduction: Electrocardiography is the measurement of electrical activity in the heart. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of mobile-based education on knowledge and performance of nursing students from Electrogardiograms.Materials and Methods: This is a quasi-experimental study in which 53 nursing students from the 7th and 8th semester were enrolled in this study and divided into two groups of 25 intervention and 28 subjects. The data gathering tool was a demographic questionnaire and a researcher-made questionnaire. 20 questions were presented as four options that were given the correct answer (score 1) and the wrong answer (0) and were classified into three weak levels (0-10) Medium (11-17), good (18-20) were used and the cardiac ECG interpretation was used to assess the performance of the patients so that each student received 5 cardiac disorders and the Electrocardiograms were interpreted to the intervention group The control group was also given to the control group. Initially, the level of knowledge and practice of students in both groups in the interpretation of the electrocardiogram strip was examined by a questionnaire and an interpretation of the ECG in a specific day without the groups being contacted. Then, the educational content of the Electroencephalogram was interpreted as PDF and PowerPoint image files using the office software The suite was installed on mobile devices and placed on their mobile phone. There was no educational intervention in the control group. After 3 months, knowledge and practice of students in both groups were reviewed and analyzed by SPSS 21 and statistical tests ANOVA- T-TEST.Results: The results showed that the level of knowledge and practice of students was not meaningful (P> 0.05) using paired t-test before intervention. But after training, only in the intervention group was meaningful knowledge (P <0.05) but it was not meaningful for the performance of the groups after the intervention (P = 0.087). In examining the effective variables, Chi-square test revealed that the knowledge level was significantly different with the semester, so that the students knowledge of the 7th semester was higher than the 8th semester. In terms of level of knowledge of the students before the intervention, 33 (66%) were at weak level, 8 (15%) were at good level. However, after the intervention, the awareness level was 30 (53%) at the moderate level, 15 (28%) were poor and 8 (15%) were at good levels.Discussion and Conclusion: The present study demonstrates the effect of mobile education on student awareness but has not been effective in terms of performance. Which is in line with the study of Ennati. It is recommended that the study be conducted at other universities as well.
