One-dimensional Fibonacci fractal photonic crystals and their optical characteristics abstract
Fibonacci fractal structures have been alreadystudied. However, more special fractal structures could bebeneficial in specific applications. In this paper, we createthree variations of Fibonacci fractal photonic crystals aswell as original structure, including: inverse Fibonaccifractal photonic crystal, mirror symmetry Fibonacci fractalphotonic crystal (MSFFPC), and finally folded Fibonaccifractal photonic crystal. The transmission spectra of thesestructures are simulated and analyzed. Our findings showthat presented structures have their own characteristics, therefore, can be used for different applications accordingto required specifications. Some MSFFPC structures, forinstance, could be used to develop resonant microcavitieswith high Q factor that can be applicable in design andconstruction of ultrasensitive optical sensors with very highquality factor requirements. The narrower resonance peaksand the smaller amount of interfaces lead to a higher sensitivityfor this structure.
