Dynamics of a low-threshold optically pumped organic vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser abstract

We propose a low-threshold optically pumpedorganic vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser (OVCSEL).This device has the capability to apply both electrical andoptical excitation. The microcavity structure consists of anorganic light emitting diode with field-effect electrontransport inserted in a high-quality factor double distributedBragg reflector. The simulated quality factor of themicrocavity is shown to be as high as 16,000. Also, weinvestigate threshold behaviour and the dynamics of theoptically pumped OVCSEL with sub-picosecond pulses. Results from numerical simulation show that lasingthreshold is 12.8 pJ/0.64 cm(-2) when pumped by subpicosecondpulses of λ = 400 nm wavelength light.
