The new wave-ring helical (WRH) slow-wave structure for traveling wave tube amplifiers abstract

In this paper, the new slow-wave structure calledwave-ring helix to enhance the power of the traveling wavetubes is introduced. In this new structure, withoutincreasing the length and radius of the helix, the wavemotion path can be increased to radiofrequency wave inphase with the electron beam. The results show that in thespecial frequency range the output power and gain aregreater than conventional helix. In this paper, optimizationresults are presented in cold and hot tests on the newstructure. The software CST is used in S-band frequencyrange.
