Depth average simulation of thermal mixing mechanism of a power-plant in the coastal region abstract
In this work, simulation of thermal mixing mechanism due to the discharge of a power-plant outlet at the bottom of a shallow water flow is studied. The numerical research work is performed by application of a depthaverage finite volume flow solver. The results of present simulation strategy are verified by comparison of the computed temperature of the flow field with the reported three dimensional numerical solution results in the literature. The results of the simulation can provide good understanding about the environmental impact of submerged thermal pollution jet and the effects of possible natural circulations near the power plant water outlet channels.
