A study on heat transfer and flow friction in a tube equipped with jagged twisted tape insert with 900 rotation abstract
This paper presents an investigation of the effect of jagged twisted -tape (JTT) insert with 90o rotation on heat transfer behaviors in a constant heat-fluxed tube. In the experiments, the jagged twisted -tape (JTT) was inserted into the entire test tube with a constant twist ratio in order to generate a continuous swirling airflow. The measurements were carried out at laminar condition. The experimental data of the jagged twisted -tape (JTT) inserted tube are compared with those of the plain tube without insert. The results show that the use of the JTT leads to higher heat transfer rate than that of the tube without insert tape with cost of more pressure drop.
