Abstract:

The binary-gas adsorption equilibrium of CH4 and CO2, is predicted using single–component adsorption experimental data by excess Gibbs energy model, based on vacancy solution theory ,in multi-walled carbon nanotubes functioned by OH group (MWCNT-OH), as a new adsorbent for methane and carbon dioxide .The experimental data of adsorption isotherm of each component were measured at various temperatures and pressures and they were correlated by vacancy solution models based on Wilson and NRTL equations. The model parameters were determined by fitting on the experimental data for pure components .Finally , the pure component parameters were employed in extended Wilson and NRTL equations for the gaseous mixtures to predict CH4- CO2 adsorption equilibrium conditions as the equilibrium mole fractions in gas and adsorbed phase.
