Influence of HDPE Content in Shear Rheology of its Blends with LDPE abstract

Dynamic shear viscosity of high density polyethylene with a low density polyethylene was studied as a function of HDPE content. Blends were prepared by melt mixing and then oscillatory shear rheology measurements of them carried out at 190°C. The Complex viscosity functions of blends are laid between the viscosity curves of the components, and also all blends exhibit a higher shear viscosity than the LDPE. Plot of zero shear viscosity as a function of weight content of LDPE revealed that 10% and 15% HDPE blends followed linear-additivity mixing rule but 35% and 50% HDPE blends deviated from the mixing rule.
