Abstract:
In the present experimental work, nanofiber interleaving effect on low velocity impact response of GLARE is studied. Impact tests are carried out according to ASTM D7136 standard on two types of samples, virgin and nano-reinforced laminates. In the nanomodified ones a thermoplastic nylon-66 nanofiber has been interleaved between aluminum and glass layers on the top and on the bottom of laminate. Impact characteristics such as contact force and impactor displacement have been investigated. Results showed that nanofiber interleaving has no noticeable effect on impact response of GLARE when no damage occurs in the laminate
