Abstract:

In this paper a low power optical receiver is designed for the bit rate of 10Gb/s in a standard of 0.18 CMOS technology. This optical receiver achieves sufficient bandwidth by using both active feedback technique in transimpedance amplifier and inductive peaking in limiting amplifier. The proposed optical receiver achieves 69.19 dB-ohm, 81.3dB-ohm transimpedance and receiver gain respectively and -3dB bandwidth of 9.63 GHZ in transimpedance amplifier in the presence of 250fF photodiode capacitance. The average input referred noise density is 23.16. It consumes power dissipation of 8.3mW and the power supply voltage is 1.5v. In the proposed receiver power consumption reduces significantly and makes this circuit adequate to operate with 10Gb/s bit rate
