Abstract:

This article explores the heat and mass transfer behavior ofmagnetohydrodynamic free convective flow past a permeable verticalrotating cone and a plate filled with gyrotactic microorganisms in thepresence of nonlinear thermal radiation, thermodiffusion, and diffusionthermo effects. Dual solutions are presented for the flow over a rotating coneand a rotating flat plate cases. Similarity variables are employed to convertthe nonlinear partial differential equations into ordinary differentialequations. Comparisons with previously published work are performed andresults are found to be in excellent agreement. The resultant non-dimensionalgoverning equations along with associated boundary conditions are solvednumerically using Runge–Kutta and Newton’s methods. The impact ofpertinent parameters on velocity, temperature, concentration and density ofthe motile microorganisms along with the friction factor, local Nusselt,Sherwood numbers, and the local density of the motile microorganisms isdetermined and analyzed with the help of graphs and tables. Results provethat there is a significant variation of heat and mass transfer in the flow overa rotating cone and a plate. It is also found that the heat and mass transferperformance of the flow over a rotating cone is significantly high whencompared with the flow over a rotating plate
