A NUMERICAL ALGORITHM FOR IDENTIFYING UNKNOWN SOURCE TERM IN PARABOLIC INVERSE PROBLEM abstract

In this paper an inverse problem of recovering a space dependent source term in parabolic equation from nal temperature measurements is investigated. The Ritz-Galerkin algorithm is employed fornumerical approximation of inverse problem. The shifted Legendre poly-nomials are introduced and then are employed as basis functions togetherwith the Galerkin method. The regularization method is applied for solv-ing the resultant ill-posed linear system by the proposed method. Theselection of the regularization parameter is based on the L-curve criterion.Finally, some numerical results are presented to demonstrate the accuracyand e ciency of the proposed method for test example.
