Abstract:

In laser machining, laser beam transmitted by beam delivery system from laser source to the workpiece. The most important part of beam delivery system is nozzle. Laser machining efficiency and quality are closely related to gas pressure, nozzle geometry and standoff distance. Two major type of nozzles used for laser cutting are transonic nozzles and supersonic nozzles. The results of theoretical analysis and simulation test show that for a supersonic jet, each sectional diameter and curve contour of the supersonic nozzle must be designed accurately according to the gas dynamic. Designing; manufacturing and Dimensional controlling of supersonic nozzles are very important and complicated. In this paper, because of importance of calculated nozzle curve; after manufacturing supersonic nozzle of beam delivery system; throat section of nozzle will be measured by using laser diffraction-type measurement.
