Abstract:

Metal and concrete shear walls can be used for structures retrofitting. However, steel shear wall lateral force resisting system provides better ductility. The plate used the gauge, floor height to span length ratio, materials used for the plate, and the materials for hardening agents must be considered in designing steel shear walls. Ductility, energy loss, and high resistance in steel shear wall systems lead to reduced steel consumption, decreased designing costs and or retrofitting. The present research reviews the studies conducted on steel shear wall (various shear wall systems, shear wall response against forces, and shear wall history) and structure retrofitting in lateral performance. Research methodology is descriptive-analytical. This review article studies steel shear wall and its positive effects on some parameters including structure retrofitting, consumed steel, structure seismic response, structure weight lighting value, and structural ductility against earthquake
