The Relationship Between Reproductive Characteristics with Growth & Development of Normal Delivery Infants From Birth to 6 Months in Hospitals and Health Centers of Yasouj and Ghachsaran

Introduction: Children’s growth and development is one of the important components of health affected by various environmental factors like delivery type. This study aimed at determining the relationship between Reproductive characteristics with Growth & Development of normal delivery infants from birth to 6 months.Methods: In this prospective cohort study, the growth and development indices were studied among 526 children (272 Natural Vaginal Deliveries (NVDs) and 254 Caesarean sections (C/S) who were only breastfed. The primary samples consisted of pregnant women referred to Yasuj and Gachsaran Hospitals and health centers in 2014–2015. Research tools were Reproductive checklist, infant Growth and ASQ tests for 4 and 6 menthes. Data were collected using questionnaires and health records.Results: The results showed that In infants of normal delivery reproductive characteristics: fetal age in birth, number of abortion, pregnancy distance from before delivery had significant with infant development in 4 and 6 months (p˂0.05).Also number of pregnancy, fetal age in birth, birth dignity, mothers BMI, and pregnancy distance from before delivery had significant with infant growth (p˂0.05).Conclusion:Attention to any significant relationship between reproductive characteristics with Growth & Development of normal delivery infants, recommended to mothers select NVD for theirs, so be observer of normal growth and development of infants.
