Abstract:
Tetrazole is a class of heterocycles with wide rang of applications that are receiving considerable attention. This functionality has been frequently used as metabolically stable surrogates for carboxlic acid group as well as lipophilic spacers [1]. In this research work, we synthesized some new compounds of alkyl tetrazoles. Therefore, 4-methoxybenzaldehyd (1) in reaction with NH2OH was converted to 4-methoxybenzaldoxime (2). The obtained compound was dehydrated by acetic anhydride to give 4-methoxybenzonitrile (3). Then, 5-(4-methoxyphenyl)- 2H-tetrazole (4) was prepared by [2+3] cycloaddition reaction between (3) and NaN3. Then, the reaction of tetrazole (4) with epichlorohydrin resulted 1-chloro-3-(5-(4-methoxyphenyl)-2H-tetrazol-2-yl)propan-2-ol. The structure of all the synthesized compounds were characterized and confirmed by FT-IR and NMR spectroscopy techniques.
