Abstract:

In this paper, a new adaptive hysteresis band current controller is proposed for shunt active power filter (SAPF). The adaptive hysteresis band current controller, proposed by Bose for electrical machine drives, is adapted to active power filter (APF). The adaptive hysteresis band current controller changes the hysteresis bandwidth according to modulation frequency, supply voltage, dc capacitor voltage and reference current wave. The hysteresis band current controller determines the switching times of SAPF. Adaptive HCC reduces the switching power losses and improves the active filter performance in comparison with the fixed-HCC. In this paper, an iterative method is used for hysteresis bandwidth calculation. The simulation test results demonstrate that the viability of the new adaptive hysteresis band current control method for SAPF. All simulation is done using MATLAB/Simulink.
