Abstract:
In this study, optimization of wind/solar hybrid system including the solarpanels, wind turbines and batteries is presented with the aim of minimizing the systemcosts including the capital and maintenance costs or as generated and consumed powerbalance constraint. The aim of the hybrid system optimization is to determine optimalsizing or optimal number of solar/wind units with number of batteries. Systemoptimization is done using Teaching-Learning Based Optimization Algorithm for thecombinations of solar/battery, wind/battery and hybrid solar/wind/battery system. Theoptimization results show that the TLBO method has better performance in systemoptimization compared to the PSO, DHSA and B&B methods. Also the results show thatthe solar-wind units capacity has important impact on system component sizing andenergy generation costs.
